As Workplace Experience Consultant & Deputy Title IX Coordinator in the Office of the Provost – Faculty and Staff Affairs, Luis A. Piñero provides consultation, coaching, and guidance to faculty, staff, department chairs, directors, managers, and campus leaders to strengthen inclusive, safe, supportive, and effective workplace environments. His work focuses on helping units navigate complex workplace dynamics, build organizational capacity, address climate concerns, and develop practical strategies that advance employee success and campus priorities.

Luis partners with schools, colleges, divisions, departments, and campus stakeholders to assess workplace experience needs, identify patterns and gaps, and recommend evidence-informed approaches to improving unit culture, mentoring, leadership practice, and employee engagement. He consults on challenging workplace scenarios, facilitates workshops, supports change management efforts, and contributes to the development of metrics and reporting mechanisms that help track progress and demonstrate the impact of workplace experience consultation services.

Biography

Luis brings more than four decades of experience at UW–Madison in workforce equity, compliance, affirmative action, diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional development. He began his UW–Madison career in the Office of Affirmative Action and Compliance in August 1982 and later held progressively responsible leadership roles in that office. In February 2000, he was appointed Assistant Vice Chancellor for Workforce Equity and Diversity in the Equity and Diversity Resource Center, where he worked with campus leaders, colleges, schools, divisions, and governance bodies to coordinate campus compliance with affirmative action and equal employment opportunity regulations.

Luis served as the campus Title IX Coordinator from 2004 to 2015 and later as Deputy Title IX Coordinator, supporting UW–Madison’s commitment to creating and maintaining a campus community free from sexual harassment and sexual violence. In his current role in Faculty and Staff Affairs, he continues to draw on his extensive institutional experience to support faculty and staff workplace success, provide practical guidance to campus partners, and help strengthen workplace environments where employees can thrive.

Luis holds a bachelor’s degree from Marquette University and a master’s degree from UW–Madison.
