Areas of Responsibility

The vice provost for the Division of Student Life and dean of students oversees a division of 125 professionals and 350-400 student employees. The division provides UW-Madison students with assistance or help navigating campus life. Students look to the division for involvement and leadership opportunities; to seek identity-based spaces and resources; transition and orientation support; and inclusion-based programs. The goal is to help students feel like they belong and a part of the UW-Madison campus community.

The Division of Student Life comprises departments and programs that share a common mission and vision, as well as strategic priorities. Departments and programs include:

Services within the Division of Student Life include student assistance, students of concern, hate & bias and hazing reporting, nonacademic misconduct, academic integrity, and reporting related to Title IX and Clery compliance (sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking).

The Division of Student Life departments and programs are dedicated to helping students connect their passion with their purpose and become the best leaders and people they can become. The division is dedicated to supporting Badgers in their journey to transform themselves from students of today to leaders of tomorrow.

Staff within the division strive to make a big campus a more personable, welcoming and inclusive campus, where all students feel at home. UW-Madison is a place where students thrive and embrace the responsibility of being a Badger, and upon graduating, go out and make the world a better place.

Services within the Division of Student Life include student assistance, students of concern, hate & bias and hazing reporting, nonacademic misconduct, academic integrity, and reporting related to Title IX and Clery compliance (sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking).

Prevention efforts around sexual assault and alcohol continue to be a divisional priority. By working with campus partners, the division helps educate students about sexual violence while providing support for survivors, in addition to providing programming, support and policies that reduce alcohol use on campus.
